A similar project "Mediasphere" of Sun City Engineering company received the first place at the international competition "Sign".
Three-dimensional media sculpture "Mediasphere" with a diameter of 30 m, is located in close proximity to the sports and recreation complex "Igora" in the Leningrad region, Russia.
The design is made in the form of a globe with the repetition of parallels, meridians and continents. The perforation of the sheets provides good windability, reduces the windage of the structure, and also makes the sheets "translucent".
The surface of the media sphere is "wrapped" in a grid of 108 thousand LED clusters with a pitch of 150x150mm. The surface area is more than 2500 sq. m, 700 power supplies and 55 controllers are used. Electric power consumption up to 240 kW.
The concept of media sculpture proposed by Sun City Engineering to the customer was implemented in about 10 months. As the technical basis of the construction, 175 tons of metal, 30 cubic meters of concrete, and more than 80 kilometers of cables were used.
