Greek-Turkish Economic Committee resumed its activities

The fifth meeting of the Greek-Turkish Joint Economic Committee ended on Monday. As a result of the meeting, representatives of the two sides - the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece for economic diplomacy Kostas Fragogiannis and the Deputy Minister of Trade of Turkey Mustafa Tuzcu - signed a protocol. 

According to a joint statement, the heads of the two delegations confirmed the success of the work of the committee, which was held more than 11 years ago in Ankara in October 2010. Due to tense relations between the two states, the committee did not function until January 24. 

Both sides expressed their intention to continue working on the agenda items, as well as to promote economic cooperation and trade between the two countries. 

The agenda included the issues of diversification of bilateral trade; investment initiatives and encouraging companies to participate in them; strengthening cooperation in the energy sector in order to ensure the security of energy supply; further cooperation in the field of environmental protection; cooperation in the field of transport support; expanding trade in agricultural products; intensifying cooperation in the field of research and innovation. 

Regarding tourism, both sides confirmed the progress made during the 4th meeting of the Greek-Turkish Joint Committee on Tourism, which was held on November 18, 2021. Currently, the states are planning to expand the tourist flow.
